Suicide Prevention

Do you know anyone who has struggled with depression?
I do. I have.
Do you know anyone who has been through a sexual assault, or physical abuse?

What can we do to help others?
The main thing to remember is that phrases like get over it, or snap out of it are not helpful to someone experiencing depression or post traumatic stress.
It is more helpful to remind them that you are here for them, and discuss what is leading to these thoughts, what actions they can take to make depression less overbearing, and offer support.

As someone who has had episodes of borderline that are similar to crisis, I want to remind others that our system only helps when you are in crisis.
Getting help, or finding treatment before reaching crisis is extremely difficult, so offering support to friends all the time is a good practice to maintain.
Remember…
Everyone experiences mental health differently, but I believe that it happens to all of us.
Judgement is the worst enemy of mental health, replace judgement with empathy, kindness, and love.
Blessings,
With light and love,
Stay true, stay weird.
