This month flew by! I don’t know where the time went!
I had a hard start to September with a situation that took all of my attention. That didn’t stop me from still posting every day when I felt like I could take that start.
Things I learned!
Posting every day has taught me many things. My number one take away from seventeen posts in one month, is to plan, prepare, and write as much as possible before I need to be posting in order to free up my time!
I found myself spending two or more hours stressing about not having a clear topic idea, and nothing prepared for that day.
Yes, I prefer to write from my heart, and in the moment, absolutely, but being prepared and knowing what topic is going up when. Having that pre-set feels incredible!
As a writer, I like to post un-edited versions of my work, because it prevents me from hiding behind the excuse “it’s not finished, I can’t post it just yet!” and then taking another 2-3 weeks to finally finish it.
That may not always be the best case! Sometimes my rushed writing does not portray the topic in the best way and spending more than two hours on a post in a day should be the norm. It’s not about quantity it’s about quality!
What I’m doing differently!
I do sense that writing out a plan for October might not bring it fully into action, but I can still put it out there.
October goals;
- 23 posts!!!
- Plan, edit, and stick to a topic for a whole week!
- Include one post about veganism in each week
- Continue writing the creative writing story.
- Include one post about fashion in this month.
- Include one philosophy post per week. (Philosophy in a more in-depth, possibly academic sense…)
- 3 youtube videos!
What’s working well?
So far, I really like writing on my own terms. I do find that certain topics make me feel overwhelmed, and so I add personal stories to them, to attach them more to me, and myself.
I’m realizing that philosopherontherun can be so much more than just myself in a blog. An internet journal if you will.
It can be curated content that people come to and read something interesting that sparks conversation.
My hope for October is that the rainbow project gets solidified more, and that the vision I have had of it creating community and conversation begins to develop.
Remember…
Goals are easy to set, the actions that get you closer to the goals are what matter.
