Plato said that music is what completes the soul. I’m not a musician, but from what I know about my own views about music, there is identity within music. For me, music is what assists in embracing uncomfortable change. Hopefully my recommendations can help you embrace change too.
Certain artists, genres, and vibes of music stand out to me more than others.
Top 5 Artists
The way I listen to music is a little weird. At times, I’ll scour Apple Music and search related artists to the ones I like. I’m not deeply entrenched in a certain genre of music, mostly appreciating the new music from certain artists, given the current uncomfortable change that most of us have been feeling.
- Khalid
- Ellie Goulding
- Sol Rising
- Dua Lipa
- Singles by various artists
In March 2020, Khalid released an album called free spirit which hit on the nose (for me at least) what I was feeling and what I needed to do – chill and go with the flow.

Ellie Goulding first resonated with me when I was going through a breakup and her song Army gave me the boost in confidence I was looking for, reminding me that I’m not alone, and that I’m a badass.
Her new album, released July 17, 2020, is amazing. From New Heights and singing love without someone else feels so right, to my favourite how deep is too deep, she puts an edge on self-discovery and pop music. It’s the completion after years of searching outside of yourself for who you are, when really, you’ve known all along.

Sol Rising literally helped my soul rise! I’m not even kidding! All of the music created by this artist is chill house vibes, and created to help your brain focus with meditation in mind, while also being something fun to listen to.
After being introduced to this artists, I downloaded all their music and put it on a playlist. Could. Not. Turn. It. Off.
If you struggle with focusing your mind into one task, I recommend trying out a Sol Rising album while you work on something, and let it play in the background.

Dua Lipa, if you haven’t listened to this woman’s incredible voice and club dance vibes, you probably should go do that right now. I’ll wait.
Her album future nostalgia came out in May and helped to fuel my runs and desire to get active. Her song break my heart is a power song. It will remind you that you’re already perfect the way you are.

My current playlist is short and filled with single hits. From Roxanne, to Be Like That, to those Ellie Goulding songs I mentioned before.
Remember…
Music is what sets your soul on fire, and make you want to move, dance, and bring yourself to life in a new way. For me this comes out in a unique way.
My philosophy behind this is to be myself with music. It’s a method of identifying who I am by relating to the lyrics in a particular song, or enjoying the vibes in music without lyrics.
Hope you enjoyed reading about what songs and artists I’m currently loving for embracing the uncomfortable changes I’m facing right now.
Leave a comment if you stop reading and search an artist, would love to know your feeling about the vibe of an artist.
