The past year, since becoming attuned to Reiki healing, and along my own journey of healing, I’ve come to notice how impactful love is.
It’s almost as though, love is the answer to every question.
How self love changed my life
I’ve always been a spiritual person, connected in my own way, believing in the impossible.
From seeing my Nonno in the clouds at 7 years old and hearing him tell me to take care of my Nonni, to an Angel in the clouds on the way to Ottawa visiting the campus of my future University. I’ve always had a connection to the Divine within me.
Along the path of my life, I became a person I didn’t like looking at. I could never tell myself I loved her, and I avoided the belief that I’m a good person because of the trauma’s I had dealt with in the past.
As I sit on my balcony, no longer living in my childhood home in Toronto, I’m overwhelmingly proud of where I’ve gotten so far. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my own personal development, the risks I’ve been willing to take over the past 2 years, and the amount of potential harbouring within me.
Self love changed my life because of the unconditional nature of it. There is no contingency, conditional, or necessary requirement to love yourself. Because you are unique, that’s why self love is available to you.
Why is love the answer?
As a philosopher, the biggest question to ponder if the meaning of life. I read an article by Ronald Willcott, a professor in the social justice program at University of Toronto.
This article argues there is a crisis of work for those studying social sciences. That because of the global crisis, there is pressure to hunker down and get your work done.
I agree, partially. Partially, because I had a thought the other day, it’s as if this global crisis is for my benefit. To allow me the freedom to stay home and figure out what is really important to me, and allow me the time to design what my future will contain.
There have been parts of my life where I’ve had a lot of free time. Most of that time I spent self soothing, and numbing the pain I felt inside, but this time is different.
This time is focused on building my self love, self worth, and actuating all of the ideas I’ve written about previously.
So how does love fit in here? How is love the answer to life?
Love is the answer because it allows us to acknowledge the bad parts of life, with kindness, compassion, and empathy.
I watched a video on Gaia, called Human, by Design. In this conference, Gregg Braden discusses the science behind human design and argues that certain gene mutations happened 200,000 years ago when the first modern human appeared.
Braden also indicates that there is a missing link in the Darwinian evolution idea and it’s impossible to link modern humans with previous known human like predecessors.
I realized as I was watching, and taking notes, that these two genes, Gene 7 and Gene 2 contain the essence of love and wisdom.
Gene 7 allows the tongue muscle to move and produce sound.
Gene 2 allows for the emotions of compassion, empathy and understanding.
The way we produce wisdom is through talking about experiences, and discussing ideas with others, gene 7. Love, is contained in gene 2.
To me, this concludes that philo or love and sophia, meaning wisdom, are contained within our DNA.
Philosophy is the unique essence of humanness.
What we’re searching for outside of ourselves is already built into our DNA.
Remember…
Within you, is love, and wisdom. You are by definition more than your reality around you. You are the embodiment of philosophy.
How you live your life is up to you, no one can choose for you.
Love is the answer because you are more than the identity given to you by others, you can choose who you are right now, and who you become in the future.
Choose to love yourself despite the hardest parts of life. Choose to love the brokenness, the fragmented parts of you, despite how broken you feel, there is love available to you.
With love and light,
