I am so thrilled to be writing this!
Being vegan is a change I made on September 1st, and I anticipated it being a lot harder than it has been so far!
Why be Vegan?
For me, being vegan is something my friends and family have been talking about for years!
One of my cousins is a vegan fitness model, and she lives by this lifestyle.
I never thought I could be 100% vegan. I always told myself I like meat too much to give it up completely!
Then something changed.
I started to think about my future, about having healthy kids, getting my body in shape to bear those children, and for my running goals.
I started to plan and think about where I want to be in 5 years, and it hit me.
If you go vegan, it’s not because of a trend, or for the animals necessarily.
It’s for future generations.
It’s for my children, and their future. It’s for their children’s children – my grandchildren.
Then it dawned on me even brighter.
I want to be alive to know my grandchildren.
I want to live a full life.
Why now?
For me, there is a shift happening in my life.
I am finally following my passions, in many different ways.
Then this wonderful company presented itself to me, and the inspiration from them grew something inside me.
It grew a sense of purpose.
Arbonne bans over 2000 ingredients from their products that are harmful.
No other company bans this many ingredients, no other country bans this many ingredients!
I know, I know, don’t tell me another story of something to buy that I don’t really need, or want in my life.
My goal in talking about Arbonne is not to sell to you, but to inspire you.
What changed?
Someone asked me if I transitioned from vegetarian into becoming a vegan, or if the process was straight from omnivore to vegan.
My story is of subtle changes, and then a big one.
About 6 months ago, I stopped drinking cream, milk, and dairy products like cream cheese, cottage cheese, and sour cream.
I cut those out.
As for meat, I am the person in my family who would help to finish the leftover meat a couple hours after dinner.
I LOVED meat so much!
I could eat 4 McDoubles in a sitting, a poutine and junior chickens in one night.
This is also a reflection of my poor eating habits.
Then I realized I shouldn’t be eating McDonald’s anymore, it’s not the best for you.
It promotes capitalist mentality and I’m really not interested in giving this company more capital to promote unhealthy foods to kids and other Canadians.
As I’ve come to know myself more, through following my passions and working on personal development. It’s become easier to know what I want to ascribe to and what doesn’t fit with my philosophy of food.
I also felt as though writing about Veganism and offering knowledge of the vegan lifestyle was a little two faced if I was not a full practicing vegan.
Remember…
No one on the internet is perfect, but I like to practice what I preach.
I mainly preach about philosophy and the synchronicities of the universe, but I also feel as though my post on the morals that veganism requires forced me to see that it’s not as hard as my mind tried to tell me it was to give up meat.
I had already cut dairy out. My worst enemy is cheese, I was so addicted to cheese that I never thought I could give it up, BUT LOOK, I DID!
I hope whoever reads this appreciates the honesty and value of what I am trying to say here.
Not everyone needs to be vegan, but veganism requires a strong reason behind it, or it may not be easy to stick to.
It is becoming more mainstream, on my birthday I had a vegan chocolate cake that tasted better than real cake, in my opinion.
But that’s the way of the world, one market is not as profitable, it opens a new one!
These are my thoughts, it has only been 19 days since I made this change, but I have noticed more positive changes than anything.
With light and love,
Blessings!
Stay true stay weird,
~~ Kristina
