Have you ever been to the circus?
This was my first time attending the Cirque Du Soleil and I went with my family to celebrate my father’s birthday.
The day was bright and sunny, with a touch of October warmth.
My mom kept saying
Are you ready for this? It’s going to be life changing!
I kept thinking, how can the circus be life changing?
What does the circus have to offer me, that can change my inner self and how I relate to the world?
The costumes, story line, and performance impacted me.
The Costumes
It’s not everyday you see costumes of such intricate design.
The colours, designs, character costumes, and gymnast outfits all reflected the uniqueness, intricacy, and detail of the performance.
Costumes are a form of fashion.
Fashion is a form of wearable artwork, and that is reflected in the stunning costumes used in the performance of Algeria.
The Story
From amazing costumes to entertaining characters, the performance was truly captivating.
It was not a story that was necessary to follow, but one that encapsulated the audience in entertainment.
The main characters for entertainment were two odd ball characters who put on skits of kinds.
It was obvious that these two male characters were best friends, and clowns at that.
At one point, the smaller friend did something to piss off the king, and got himself banished.
The taller friend, though wanting to, couldn’t bring himself to leave with his best friend.
He stayed, and watched as his friend walked away sadly.
Eventually, he ran after him, they caught up to each other, worked out their differences, and then encountered a snow storm!
The audience was sprayed with powerful snow, which was actually just pieces of paper.
The Performance
The strength of each of the performers is in itself incredible.
Jumps, flips, the use of metal hoops, breathing and jumping fire, the performers really took the term performance and threw it at the audience.
Add to that, live music, with a full band producing the music for the performers.
Everything and everyone moved in synchronicity.
I would highly recommend seeing this show before they leave Toronto!
My final remark from this show is, together we are stronger.
Blessings!
With love and light,
Stay true, stay weird
