Recap…
Katie, I’m your attorney, Jasmine Wanerby. This works best if you tell me everything that happened, spare no details, I need to know everything.

Two months went by, a court date, and then a decision.
**Knock Knock**
I opened the door, after all this stuff happened I found myself in a depression. I couldn’t go to work, because of the humiliation.
Katie, the court has decided that, instead of sending you to jail, well, they are mandating 8 weeks of therapy. This is good.
She was reading my face through the open door.
This is the best I could get you, given your history…
I couldn’t help but say something! I DID NOT DO ANYTHING!
Well, if that’s the best you can do. Then, thanks, I guess.

The patient is adamant that she did not do anything and is being wrongfully accused by an abusive ex-boyfriend. However, I don’t see any evidence of police reports to indicate that he was ever physically abusive towards her in the past. There’s no indication of previous counselling or therapy… either… which begs the question of whether the patient is being truthful. Whether she has been able to deal with trauma on her own or if the court mandated counselling is the best thing for her right now.
I could hear the doctor telling my lawyer all this, from outside the room. They didn’t think I could hear them, but I could. Loud and clear.
Maybe this is the light I’ve been waiting for.
An opportunity to control and release the darkness that eats me whole…
